Veridt ……….The Best of Both Worlds.
The Veridt design approach offers both leading edge innovation combined with real-world, in-the-field considerations.
From Traditional to Hybrid to Trusted
In many deployment environments, the challenge is migrating from an existing legacy PACS system to a fully compliant FICAM end-point solution. In these cases, the challenge is to provide operational support as part of a stepwise transition toward that end, hence, a hybrid solution as a bridge from the traditional managed physical access to high-assurance credential access management.
The key to this is the combined functionality in the reader that provides multi-tiered, multi-level communications protocols enabling ALL these capabilities. Veridt readers provide the most comprehensive device management in the industry for every configuration and communications protocol:
PACS connectors to support bi-directional communication (PAM & EWAC); any bridge, gateway or edge device; OSDP (SIA v2.2, transparent mode, secure channel & file transfer]; other Veridt supported protocols (Classic, HARS, & other).
Real World Deployment Considerations
Having had the benefit of a long experience with deployments in challenging environments dating back to the original TWIC experience, we have translated these experiences into continuous product improvements and enhancements. We continue to engage in long-term testing, continuously monitoring performance as part of an on-going product improvement program.
As part of this process readers have been vigorously tested in the most extreme conditions to meet the rigorous environmental exterior conditions for temperature, solar radiation, sand & dust, rain, salt atmosphere, snow and wind.

Identity & Credential Access Management
The first approved high assurance solution occurred in 2012 from Tyco Security Products, a solution combining Software House PACS, Codebench PIVCheck, Veridt readers. At that time, standards were evolving and the implementation of these PACS solutions were just emerging. Different approaches were developed and implemented over time. As one of the leaders in the field, Veridt has been intimately involved in creating these solutions, designated here as Type 1, 2 & 3
Veridt’s cumulative experience and knowledge in device management means compatibility with every configuration and communications protocol: PACS connectors to support bidirectional communication (HID PAM & Veridt EWAC); any bridge, gateway, or edge device; OSDP (SIA v2.2, transparent mode, secure channel & file transfer); and other Veridt supported protocols (Classic, HARS, & others)
Type 1
The first solution developed was the so-called Type 1, which could be implemented with any existing PACS utilizing a “PACS” connector secure module. Secure modules are utilized to create a bi-directional pathway from reader to validation service residing at the server where the authentication mode can be set, where certificate checking occurs, and confirmation of credentials authenticity and cardholder’s identity is confirmed before sending “valid card” status to PACS using standard Wiegand formatted data.
These were the first FICAM approved solutions.
Type 2
Type 2 is a PACS specific solution where ACM has the functionality to pass data from the reader directly to the server. Reader transmits serial data via RS-485 to ACM. No Wiegand formatted data is utilized in this case. No data is cached at the ACM.
Type 3
Type 3 is a PACS specific solution where the ACM contains the reader and validation service locally (at the ACM not the server) and can perform the services locally as well as cached certificates.
